calcium foodsYesterday evening I saw on TV a show that gives you general tips how to lose weight and one interesting “tip” I got was that if you eat your meals with a smaller plate then you would tend to eat less.

On top of that you are supposed to eat slowly and savor every morsel of food while chewing on it rather than chomping on it I guess!

It sounded logical and not too difficult so that is one “tip” that I will definitely try as well amongst all the other weight losing measures that I am adopting at the moment..

The only thing is that I need to remember is that it will defeat the whole purpose of eating less if I keep filling up my smaller-than-usual plate for second and third round helpings!

Which diet is the best?

I saw Oprah yesterday on TV and I must say she looks quite “big”. Now she has been showing people diets a plenty, so the question really is: do diets work and if so: which diet is the best?

There is only 1 answer to that question: the best diet for you is the diet that works for you!

How do you know? If you don’t have a clue about yourself…(if you don’t know what motivates you that is…) then you need to try each diet them 1 by 1. Once you see a diet brings you the "promised’ results and you feel good with it, you stick to it. Otherwise you need to:

  • find out why this diet is not good for you
  • look for other diets that don’t have this "negative factor" you just discovered above.

How I lost 60 kg in 1 day!

Isn’t that a dream come true on your birthday?

Unfortunately life is not that funny when it comes to weight loss. But the key factor is finding deep in yourself why you are eating in the first place.

One of the reasons is that you forgot to move (due to your sitting office desk work or I don’t know what reason), and your body is getting used to it. On the other hand: you are still eating the same amount as those days you were still moving. And the worst case scenario is that your sitting life has added extra food to your body. I mean: what’s easier than sitting in front of TV and jotting down tit bits?

Therefore you need to get your bum out of your chair or sofa, try to read this post standing up :-)

Why bloggers have difficulties loosing weight

Maybe you are like me: you love to blog or you can read other blogs for hours and hours in a row.

Nothing wrong with that, except that we aren’t burning much calories sitting behind our computers!

Combine that with bad eating habits or with starving yourself the whole day until you are so hungry that you need to eat or you can’t sleep, and I guess I know why my weight just doesn’t want to move in any direction…

Exercising on the floor do keep my body flexible, yet it doesn’t do much for loosing weight…

Oats

In the morning I love to eat an elaborate breakfast. So far so good, but I also love to eat an elaborate lunch, dinner and supper.

So to cut down a bit on all that eating, Monday, Wednesday and Friday I limit myself to an oats breakfast. I bought myself a new package last weekend and Monday my stomach felt weird all day.

This morning when preparing my oats, I read the instructions… to find out that I didn’t buy instant oats but I need to boil them in water for a few minutes! No wonder last Monday I felt a bit under the weather…

Need to get these instant oats this weekend, as otherwise my boss is not going to be happy with my new excuse for being late: Sorry boss, I had to boil oats this morning…

The best fish and chips in West London

I admit… I sinned… I will try to make up for it this week…

fish and chips in londonIf you are on a mission to lose some weight, it is important to remember that you do not deprive yourself of your favorite foods! If you feel deprived, I think the chances for you to fall off the wagon will be higher.

I love banana fish and chips and I basically can eat this everyday and not get fed up with them. I grew up on such foods literally..Oh come to think of it, that might be the reason why I am fat!

Well, anyway, obviously I cant eat this everyday now so now I eat them once a month and in smaller portions. So instead of eating a whole fish fried in batter, I will just eat 2 pieces. Instead of eating a whole portion of chips with all the usual very-unhealthy condiments, I now eat half of the portion.

So there you are, it isn’t that bad really as come to think of it, you will have something to look forward to every month : i.e. the best fish and chips in West London day!

Does Nolvadex burn fat

My girlfriend seems to be desperate about getting slimmer (who isn’t yet she is way too desperate) and she just wanted to know my expert advice whether Nolvadex burns fat?

First and foremost, you burn fat with fire :-)

Secondly, you really should do some research before just taking any pills that claim to reduce fat.

In the case of Nolvadex: it’s an estrogen receptor modulator used in breast cancer. In other words it is the world’s largest selling breast cancer treatment.

So I would suggest you leave Nolvadex for what it is and start burning the fat yourself by exercising or by using diet pills that have a proven track-record for losing weight!

Why am I fat?

NO!

Eating too much explains why you are gaining weight but doesn’t explain why you are fat.

FAT

Fat is a label people or yourself put on you!

  • if you only compare yourself with skinny models, you yourself are telling that you are fat OR
  • if you THINK that everybody calls you fat, then you yourself are telling that you are fat
  • if the people around you call you fat, then there is no doubt that others are calling you fat

It is outmost important that you know why you start your weight loss:

  1. because you want your body to be in shape and stop gaining weight?
  2. because for some reason you think you are fat
  3. because you want other people to stop calling you fat

Depending on which category you fit in, you need to have a different approach:

  1. you just go to a dietician and or fitness center and or friend that exercises and has a healthy weight, and you ask what needs to be done
  2. you first need to find out the reason why you think you are fat! As soon as you have figured that out, you have the basic step in changing your mind and look on weight loss. Before that you could do the steps in 1. , but it will be only a "temporary job" in stead of a life style change
  3. you cannot stop other people from calling you names. You can only change how you deal with this kind of disapproval. Know that in some countries in Africa, being fat is a compliment, so changing address could be a solution here :-) .

What mountains have in common with weight loss

On top if that: Colorado has mountains which means lots of outdoor recreation like: mountain biking, hiking, white-water rafting, skiing, climbing…

We do mean mountain climbing, not the number of obese people that is climbing :-)

But the picture is clear: make sure you have a lot of healthy exercise and it should be easier to get your weight loss under control. To start with: your fat body will complain and tell you to stop eating so much when you want to do exercise.

On the other had: your obese body will tell you: eh, sit back and relax…

So it’s all a vicious circle that you need to climb out of. Like climbing a mountain: this requires some effort from you!

Why is the Zone Diet not letting me loose weight?

As you know by now, I want to loose weight by moving more and eating healthy. I am inspired by the so called zone diet, although I am not really following that diet. It’s the idea that counts :-)

What’s the idea? Read my old posts about The Zone diet:

The Zone diet weight loss program benefits are immediate: as soon as you lower your carbohydrate intake, your blood sugar is automatically stabilized.

Having said this, I feel less hungry during the day, yet I don’t loose weight! Just feel a bit better and don’t start thinking about food at 10 am :-)

So why don’t I slim down?

I do agree: I feel less hungry and I am more alert and energized throughout the day. Thanks to the zone diet’s balanced food intake guidelines, carbohydrate cravings become a thing of the past: you will be freed of your carbohydrate addiction thanks to the Zone Diet. No more sweets for me :-) And an apple goes a long way!

How long does it take to see the benefit of this weight loss program? If you follow the Zone diet guidelines, your body will remarkably fast feel the results of the zone diet.

Sounds too good to be true, but yet again: this is how we lived in the past: not sitting behind our computer or TV but actively moving around!

What’s the catch? Notice that the zone diet talks about benefits, it doesn’t talk about loosing weight!

Ok, now I know why I am not slimming down although I am doing everything right!
