More green tea - less pounds

Again another 2 pounds gone in another 2 weeks thanks to my interpretation of the many active weight loss programs out there:

 

 

I must say although I love green tea, drinking only green tea is a bit of a challenge, especially when I love to go out in the evenings… not all pubs serve green tea and I can’t keep on going to Japanese restaurants unless I start selling my apartment…

 

I stress on drinking the tea and not on eating green tea supplements. I believe the whole idea about drinking tea is:

 

  • to have a tasty drink and
     
  • to NOT have a fizzy or alcoholic drink!

 

Eating green tea supplements would kind of eliminate the 2 advantages I just mentioned above. And it is said that green tea has breast cancer reducing effects, which is an added bonus.

 

I surely need to have a deeper look in finding out which foods prevent cancer. It’s no point in looking good but inside you are feeding a cancer…

 

Now another important thing about a diet is: can you stick to it? If not, then you need to find a diet that suits you better.

 

For myself, I am sure I wont be able to stick to only drinking green tea, but I am going to try my best until the holiday season starts to loose as much weight as possible.

 

Because we all know: the end of the year most like means the end of your diet…

Another 2 pounds gone in 2 weeks thanks to my interpretation of the many active weight loss programs out there.

 

Once you are like me and found yourself a weight loss program that works and you can stick too, you get a priceless AHA moment about dieting and active weight loss programs.

 

So what is the secret free weight loss plan I am following?

 

There is no such thing as a secret diet. The only secret is that marketing people want to sell you any secret that you don’t know and therefore want to pay for.

 

The same when it comes to selling the best weight loss program. If their really was 1 best weight loss program out there, we would all know about it, use it and loose weight.

 

Active weight loss programs stress activity

 

Weight loss diets are basically quit simple and we all know the concept of diet programs:

 

what you take in and

what you don’t actively burn,

you store as fat.

 

  1. Being active is half the work in loosing weight!
     
  2. The other half is following a healthy diet that make sense for you in the long term.

 

Any mathematical weight loss system fails

 

The equation above that " fat = what you eat minus what you burn " is only part of the whole holistic diet approach.

 

You need to know why your body is storing all this fat in the first place.

 

Your body is always preparing itself for "worse days to come".

 

In the beginning of human kind, we were hunters or farmers. We all know, when you live in a seasonal climate without supermarkets nor shops: in winter it will be more difficult than in summer to find food, be it both in hunting and farming.

 

That’s why bears eat as much as they can when food is abundant, and they go in a state of hibernation the rest of the winter.

 

Now we aren’t bears, but our body acts similar like bears do: in days of food abundance, we store our extra food intake into fat.

 

In days when food is scarce - that is when we go on a diet - our body goes in alarm mode and tries as hard as it can to get as much nutrition out of the food we are eating.

 

And now for the part that makes all diets to be doomed: as soon as we overindulge ourselves during a diet, our body says:

 

ok: in this long dieting period of little food, seems our ‘master’ hit the food jackpot by overindulging in treats: let’s make as much fat as possible from what our master is eating!

 

Once you have this knowledge, it’s no wonder why again smart marketing people come out with the cookie diets like Dr. Siegal’s cookie diet, Smart for life cookie diet and Hollywood cookie diet.

 

The smart marketer knows that we all love to indulge in cookies so he bakes a cookie "to control your hunger" and incorporates your need of cookies into a fully fledged diet…

 

2 problems to follow active weight loss programs

 

Why is the diet program I was following before not working?

 

  1. First it’s difficult to stick to your diet
     
  2. secondly, as soon as you deviate from your diet, your body punishes you big time by accumulating as much fat as possibly can.

 

So how come I am loosing weight these days? Because I rigorously make sure that all the snacks in between my meals are from the Negative calorie diet plan diet list I compiled in my previous post + my breakfast follows the Japanese banana diet : in short: I start my day eating bananas.

 

A healthy diet with negative calorie snacks means that my body gets no extra food intake to store extra fat, as I don’t give it a chance to do so.

 

Add to that: action!

 

I make sure that I am doing my exercises every day, so whatever I eat will be worked off at least a bit.

 

Of course if you don’t have an office job like me, maybe your daily routine already gives you enough exercise to burn your daily food intake.

 

Active weight loss programs summarized

 

  1. Let your body think there is so much food available that it doesn’t have to store fat.
     
  2. Look for a long term weight loss program.
     
  3. Be active.

 

Start eating small meals but eat more than 3 times a day: consider an extra snack not only as a snack but as a real meal.

 

This makes your body thinking it’s in a period of abundant food so your body has no excuse to optimize it’s fat extraction out of your nutrients.

 

In other words: a diet that makes you feel hungry doesn’t work. Why? Because when hungry, your body starts optimizing its fat storage.

 

Eat smart meals: make sure the food you take in doesn’t have much calories to make fat from. When it comes to snacks, negative calorie food is ideal. When you love "cookies", then follow a cookie diet.

 

The second secret is to keep on following a healthy diet forever, so your body has no excuse to suddenly make extra efforts to make as much fat out of the food you are eating.

 

This means that along the way you can change your diet a bit according to how you change your lifestyle, but you don’t go back to eating fast food every day.

 

The third and last aspect that is from outmost importance : do exercise, be active, make sure yo move your body. That’s why they call it active weight loss programs.

1 lost another 1 kg (2 pounds!) thanks to my Japanese banana diet and my friend’s negative calorie diet plan in only 2 weeks :-)

 

I am now boiling a delicious negative calorie diet soup as filling your body with liquids is always a good idea, as long as it isn’t fizzy drinks nor diet coke.

 

And soup tastes beter than water, because none of the weight loss diets tat stress on drinking water works for me. I need some taste :-)

 

So what’s this negative calorie diet plan all about?

 

You surely have heard about low calorie meals, well, the negative calorie diet plan is a free weight loss diet that goes 1 step further.

 

The idea is that your body uses energy to digest food, and the energy of a meal of the negative calorie diet should be less than what your body needs to digest it.

 

The overall idea is that e.g. when you drink a negative calorie diet soup, it won’t make you any fatter: your body will use more calories to digest the negative calorie soup than there are calories in the soup in the first place.

 

Or summarized: the meal you eat has less calories than the calories you use digesting the meal.

 

One warning though that I still stick to my banana diet: if you really only eat negative diet food, you end up having no extra calories for your daily tasks… You can’t rely on all your fat, especially not when you need to loose only a few kilos.

Comparing food: eating fat will burn about 2-3%, carbohydrates 5 to 6 % and proteins 25-30%.

 

Proteins… didn’t we see that in the Atkins diet?

Most foods from this diet are rich in water like fruits and vegetables.

 

And everybody knows that water doesn’t contain calories. But water in fruits taste so much better than water: that’s why the negative calorie diet sounds so interesting for me, as I hate water, except for shower and swimming…

 

So following the negative calorie diet plan I learn which meals are both delicious and very low in calories.

Oprah Bob Greene

Oprah’s Bob Greene is the author of The Best Life Diet. He also seems to be a close friend from Oprah, or should I rephrase that to business partner?

 

When Oprah endorses Obama, I can clearly understand where she is coming from and I respect that. I am sure she doesn’t get paid a penny for that.

 

But when Oprah endorses the new book called "The Best Life Diet" from Oprah’s former personal trainer Bob Greene, I get mixed feelings.

 

I mean: look at Oprah: she is all but thin, for sure she wouldn’t mind if she lost a few pounds and yet… she endorses a weight loss book as if it really works.

 

Even worse, Bob Greene was her former personal trainer, so if Greene’s weight loss book is the best book written ever, then why is Oprah not loosing the weight?

 

And it can even get more worse… suddenly you can buy products with the Best Life Diet Seal.

 

It sounds great though: Bob Greene’s seal could help people eat healthier. How? Well, Bob Greene only puts a Best Life Diet Seal on those products that are low in sugar, low in sodium and high in things like whole grains.

 

So far so good! But in how far can we trust Bob Greene’s objectivity? Can people lobby their products to get approved by Bob Greene, just like Bob Greene has lobbied himself all the way into the Oprah show?

 

Does Oprah get a cut in what Bob Greene makes? As it seems that Bob Greene can’t cut anymore fat out off Oprah’s body. I was wondering, because the people that took the Best Life Diet challenge didn’t loose that much of weight. So little that Oprah had to showcase them with tremendous weight loss stories of others.

 

Is Oprah still on the path of making people more healthy and less obese, or is she going the easy path of making some quick bucks based on her weight loss history and trusted name?

 

Why do we see Bob Greene’s face throughout the whole show and why doesn’t anybody elaborate when one of the weight loss people points out that a diet is not only about changing your eating habits, but much more about changing your underlying personality.

 

Something doctor Phil used to stress, but hey, how to make money by changing peoples eating habits if the real motivation for a successful weight loss needs to come from deep within the person? Is Oprah thinking: “if I can’t get rid of it, I might as well get rich with it…”

 

  • Yes, Oprah is right when she says that changing your eating habits will change your health and weight.
     
  • Yes, Oprah is also right when she hires a Bob Greene to put labels on healthy food.
     
  • But Oprah should stress by stating the 2 above, she leaves out the fact that external change needs to be motivated by internal change.

 

Anyway, at this moment of writing, at Amazon, you can buy 242 used "The Best Life Diet" from $0.01. I think that says enough how real people really feel about Oprah Bob Greene’s best life diet.

 

Oprah Bob Greene’s healthy lifestyle only works when you tackle your inner person that’s now eating to hide itself!

Walter Hudson was the world’s heaviest man in 1987. Being morbidly obese he died of a heart attack in 1991, at 46 years old with a weight of 1,125 pounds…

 

If your weight is too high, you are a danger for your own body: we all have heard it more than once but we will only believe it if it happens to us or to our loved ones…

 

Huge propaganda for the zone diet

 

The sad story is that Manuel Uribe went to the Us to "make it big". Unfortunately a sitting job and fastfood made Manuel big in proportion and not so much in savings.

 

Only when he got discovered to be bedridden due to his weight, he got worldwide attention. And when there is attention, people will monetize it!

 

The zone diet kind of jumped on Manuel and honours should be given to whom deserves it: Manuel lost 180kg in one year with the zone diet.

 

But the next year Manuel only lost 8kg. According to the zone diet that’s because Manuel has been building up muscles… Now you need to know that Manuel is still bedridden, so he can’t do the exercises needed to built up an enormous amount of muscles.

 

Meaning the zone diet in my opinion is now just trying to sell itself as being the only way to go when it comes to weight loss.

 

It’s sad, because there is no such thing as the ideal diet that works for everybody. The zone diet has proven it’s benefits: an amazing loss of 180 kg in 1 year. But it has proven it’s weakness as well: only 8kg the next year although Manuel sticks to his diet.

 

Of course Manuel still has all the media attention, and no wonder gastric bypass surgeons are now focusing to do a gastric bypass and show everybody that this is the way to loose weight when you are morbidly obese.

 

The fact is: Manuel didn’t only get the zone diet, but he also got a lot of people helping and supporting him: and we all know that when you are on a diet, it works much better than doing it on your own.

 

It’s sad that Manuel’s story now has become a battle between the zone diet and gastric bypass surgery, in stead of showing the bigger picture and doing and promoting an holistic approach for weight loss where gastric bypass and the zone diet are only a few of the many options available.

Japanese banana diet

japanese banana dietI lost 1 pound already using the latest Japanese banana diet!

 

Since the beginning of this week I started eating only bananas and drinking green tea for breakfast. For the rest of the day I eat what I usually eat and when I need a treat, banana it is :-)

 

In the evening I make sure I don’t eat anything after 20.00h.

 

And it shows results, be it only 1 pound a week. I must say this week I didn’t exercise either, as I strained my ankle over the weekend. So all in all I am happy with my result.

 

The original Japanese banana diet

 

The original morning banana diet originates from Japan and works as follows:

 

  • Eat raw, unfrozen banana(s) for breakfast, drink warm water
     
  • If you are still hungry 15 or 20 minutes after your bananas, you can eat other food
     
  • Eat normally for lunch and dinner
     
  • Dinner must be eaten by 8 p.m. at the latest (6 p.m. is better)
     
  • Other than that you are free to do and eat what you like

 

I substituted warm water for green tea without sugar, as I do love to have some taste in my drinks. And I love green tea anyway :-)

 

Luckily I do love the taste of bananas, and you can go to any Asian shop and buy different kind of bananas like the delicious small Philippine bananas.

 

Of course " other than that you are free to do and eat what you like " can’t be taken seriously. I mean, you can’t say you are on a diet and start eating fastfood like a madman just because you are eating bananas in the morning.

 

I try to eat as healthy as possible and take food with not too much butter nor fat. Since this diet originates from Japan "eating all you want from Japanese food" is what is meant. So that means rise, soups and lots of sushi :-)

 

Anyway, if I only can eat Japanese food, my food intake will be limited by my monthly earnings, which as such is a good way of losing weight as well.

Foods beginning with x

From now on I will be only eating foods beginning with X. Look at my list below and you can be sure that I will lose weight as there aren’t so many food items that begin with X.

 

Yet it’s a great way of starting your own alternative diet. I mean: it took me a few hours intensive searching for the below list of all foods beginning with X. That alone kept me concentrated and not grabbing for any snack :-)

 

On top of that it gives you a limited list of food items you can eat, and the only snack that begins with an x is xinh-xao or Chinese jelly that you can add to any sweet drink like soy milk.

 

Now if you set yourself to make a food list beginning with each letter of the alphabet, you will be in for long hours of not being bored and eating your way through boredom.

 

Further you will surely discover delicious and healthy food that you never heard of before, like the Xavier soup I found.

 

And if you have a food-list you love and that contains all the food items from the food pyramid, you are ready to start your own customized and personal "letter of the alphabet" diet.

 

List of foods beginning with x

 

  • xanthan gum : sea kelp: a naturally derived thickener and product stabilizer
     
  • xanthareel : yellow eel  
     
  • xavier soup : chicken soup or consomme thickened with arrowroot or rice flour
     
  • xia : Chinese for shrimp :-)
     
  • xigua : Chinese watermelon: an edible fruit that looks similar to a watermelon but shorter in size
     
  • xinh-xao : (cincau) black grass jelly or liangfen agar jelly in Chinese. It’s actually prepared from seaweed and cornstarch and tastes a bit sweet-bitter. It’s great to make yourself a healthy drink added in soybean milk, sweet drinks made of simple syrup, coconut milk, or my favourite: with crushed ice and a few drops of jasmine water!
     
  • xiphias : swordfish, I love my swordfish skewers
     
  • xiphosuran : horseshoe crab, not every restaurant serves this though… 
     
  • xylocarpaxylocarpa: a hard and woody fruit but you have to go all the way to Australia to get it, doesn’t even look very appetizing to me…
     
  • xylopia aromatica : monkey pepper, but you need to travel all the way to Brazil to get it…

Hey, it’s a bit hard finding words with an X, so I started to cheat a bit and found some more foods that kind of fit… well, aren’t we all creative when it comes to find excuses not to go the path we should be going :-)

Oprah has a personal trainer

There is one thing I never understand: why is Oprah not as slim as she was years ago?

She has a personal trainer to help her exercise and to lose weight. On top of that she brags about her gym in your Harpo office, yet the weight still keeps on her body.

I wish she could explain what is happening. On one hand saying that she does everything needed to lose weight (not eating late in the evening for one…), yet on the other hand having a weight that seems to be quite stable… Where is the logic?

I do agree: I don’t lose weight either, yet I don’t have a personal trainer and I surely am not bragging that I do everything that should be done in order to lose weight.

So Oprah: are you just pleasing your sponsors or what is your deep, dark secret?
